SpongeBob SquarePants and Patrick Star are set to appear on the big screen and head out on another exciting journey!
The acclaimed Nickelodeon series will release its newest film installment next year. The movie, called The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run, will be animated and in 3D. This will mark the third movie during the show’s run, following The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie (2004) and The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water (2015).

Looks like avid SpongeBob fans will finally get the inside scoop on how the iconic character and his cherished pet snail Gary first crossed paths! The movie’s main plotline centers around Gary disappearing and being kidnapped, thus prompting SpongeBob and his best friend Patrick to head for the mesmerizing Lost City of Atlantic City in hopes of finding him. The film will feature the same voice actors as the series, which includes Tom Kenny, Bill Fagerbakke, Clancy Brown, Rodger Bumpass, Carolyn Lawrence, and more!
As you could also tell from the trailer, Keanu Reeves will also be making a special cameo in tumbleweed form !
For those of you who may not know or have simply grown out of the series, “SpongeBob SquarePants” is still ongoing and currently in its 12th season. It has been 20 stellar years for the show!
