ICYMI: Disney+ Unveils Jim Henson Company Collaboration on Upcoming Talk Show "Earth To Ned"!
Disney+ is offering up a ridiculous amount of content from Star Wars, National Geographic, Pixar, Marvel, and Disney’s own magical array of masterpieces. But the fun doesn’t stop there as the masters of puppetry, the Jim Henson Company, will also be bringing something into the Disney+ fold that is a bit different than anything they have attempted before.
A 30-minute talk show has received a straight-to-series order form the Disney subscription service, and unlike other talks shows, this one has a premise that is simply out of this world -- literally. The series will utilize the fairly traditional late night talk show format of bringing on different celebrity guests to be interviewed by a very unique and, dare I say, extraterrestrial host. This Disney/Jim Henson Collaboration will star a blue-skinned alien named Ned and his lieutenant Cornelius. The two were sent to Earth to provide reconnaissance for an invasion of our planet, but instead, the interstellar being became obsessed with humanity’s pop culture. As opposed to destroying us, Ned, in his infinite wisdom, has decided to entertain us instead. Dodged a bullet there, folks!
He's the host with the most... arms! Earth to Ned, an original series from The Jim Henson Company, coming soon only to @disneyplus. #DisneyPlus pic.twitter.com/rGC0EUqkea

The show will be titled "Earth to Ned" and will be broadcast exclusively from the bridge of their spaceship, which is hidden deep underground, of course. Along for the ride with Ned and Cornelius is their artificial intelligence BETI who will undoubtedly provide assistance as well as comic relief. Also in the mix is an army of adorable creatures called Clods, which stands for "Cloned Living Objects of Destruction". These are not only great characters that sound like they will make for some seriously side-splitting laughs, but their designs are really well done. These fantastic puppets are from the same team that did the incredible work on "Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance", Netflix's smash hit Dark Crystal prequel series. It's hard to imagine "Earth to Ned" not finding similar success when it releases.
The Disney+ talk show will be produced by the Jim Henson Company and Marwar Productions with Brian Henson, son of the legendary Jim Henson, serving as executive producer. The show is also slated to be a healthy mix of both unscripted and scripted material. The unscripted portion will be nice to allow for some improvisation with the guests, and the scripted part will be there to most likely keep up the fun facade of the talk show premise. Disney has a long, historic tradition of giving audiences a glimpse into new worlds and bringing new talent into the spotlight. It looks like Ned is next in line.
Disney+ launches on November 12, though the premiere date for "Earth to Ned" has not been announced yet.
