Leia Watching Over Us
During the D23 presentation, J.J. Abrams made sure that no one in that room forgot about Carrie Fisher and discussed the process of re-discovering old, unused footage of Carrie as Leia from The Force Awakens that they were able to repurpose for this film. He also shared a story he’d never told anyone before – that when he read Carrie’s memoir, The Princess Diarist, he noticed a Special Thanks dedicated to himself which read, “Thanks for putting up with me, twice.” Thing is… he had only worked with her once at that point, before she passed away in 2016. Wow, can you say “goosebumps”??
