1. “The Leftovers”
First of all, if you haven’t watched (or heard of) the HBO series “The Leftovers”, you need to fix that immediately. Created by Damon Lindelof, one of the creators of “Lost”, “The Leftovers” is another strange, experimental show, about a small town in New York where the citizens are dealing with the aftermath of a global event where 140 million people randomly disappeared one day, with no idea where they went. The show grapples with spirituality, grief, and depression, among other things.
The last episode of the series, Season 3 Episode 8 “The Book of Nora”, doesn’t answer all the questions you may have, but it brings a happy enough ending to the main characters and allows you to keep wondering what might have really happened. The finale has a great balance of satisfaction without giving everything away, which lets the show live on after, as people still debate what they think happened even now.
