One of our favorite things to see online is women being successful and iconic. It's especially impactful when successful women use their platforms to encourage other women too. This week has had some notable events of women supporting women, self empowerment, and general slay moments. To celebrate this, we've compiled a list of 5 of our favorite recent Girl Power moments.
1. Amelia Dimoldenberg and Cher
Amelia Dimoldenberg has gone viral this year with her “Chicken Shop Date” interviews in which she charms guests and provides dry humor. This week, the series became even more iconic as Cher joined the lineup of guests. Cher has been a powerful female figure throughout her career, and this interview serves as a reminder that she is still an icon. In a famous interview from 1996, Cher told a story about her mother inquiring about her need for a man, in which she responded, “Mom, I am a rich man.” She brought the same independent energy to this interview. When asked about heartbreak, Cher revealed that she has not had her heart broken many times. Her confident reasoning for this is that she’s “cute”. She also made it clear that she still doesn't believe a woman needs a man in her life.

The interactions between Dimoldenberg and Cher were very sweet, and it seems like this interview was a positive experience for them both. It's great to see strong, independent women, and we love that this interview could potentially be introducing many young girls to such an iconic female figure.
2. Blake Lively Supporting Pop Stars
Another recent example of women supporting women is Blake Lively's Instagram post about the premiere of Renaissance: A Film by Beyoncé. Lively’s post features a photo of her with Beyoncé and another of her with Taylor Swift. Her caption employs humor to uplift her pop star friends: “When I grew up, women were always pit against one another. It took me until adulthood to see that the instinct for women to lift each other up to their highest potential is the norm not the exception. Most of my best friends are women who would’ve been packaged to me as threats or competition. It’s our job to show younger generations the power in aligning rather than dividing. All this to say, @beyonce and @taylorswift neither of you have to be threatened by my pop stardom. There’s space for us all. Renaissance: A Film by Beyoncé. In theaters now …And even better than you can imagine.”
Lively brings up an important issue. Women are often made to feel as if they are competing against each other, which only serves to tear women down. Lively understands that supporting her fellow women is beneficial to everyone involved, and she knows that there is space for everyone's success. Her humorous conclusion about her own “pop stardom” gives a more serious post her usual touch of comedic flair.
3. Ice Spice Being Her Own Biggest Fan
Ice Spice has proven herself to be a force to be reckoned with. She amassed an impressive 1.7 billion streams and 128.8 million listeners on Spotify this year. Her music is highly streamed and well-beloved by not only her fans but herself too. She revealed via Instagram Stories that she was her own Top Artist on Spotify Wrapped this year. This admission proves the importance of self-love, self-confidence, and the power of believing in your own work. There are plenty of artists that have publicly expressed their disapproval over their own music, so it is refreshing to see an artist celebrate her own work. Ice Spice knows her music is good, and we love that for her.

4. Kelly Clarkson Uplifting Fellow Singers
Kelly Clarkson is a wonderful advocate for her musical peers. We love to see women uplifting other women, and Clarkson does a great job at this. In a recent interview with Audacy, she talked about unique voices. She made it clear that there is room for success for every type of voice and style. She praised Selena Gomez’s vulnerability in her music and gushed about Billie Eilish’s unique singing ability. Clarkson is known for her powerhouse vocals but still shares an appreciation for singers of other pop styles from her own. It is always nice to hear an icon speak so kindly of her peers and acknowledge the beauty in musical variance.

5. Brenda Lee Finally Reaches #1 - 65 Years Later!
Brenda Lee's classic holiday tune “Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree” has reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart for the first time. This milestone comes 65 years after the song's initial release, and makes Lee the oldest woman to top the chart at age 78. The surge of appreciation for the song this holiday season has surely been a reason to feel cheerful. Lee's accomplishment proves that you can be successful and break records at any age. It's always empowering to see a woman at the top, and it is encouraging to see the Internet express the capacity to promote the success of women at all ages. This accomplishment is well deserved.
