2. 48 Hrs. (1982)
It seems as though Eddie Murphy was somewhat typecast as a loveable criminal who gets the chance of a lifetime -- in this case, being a police informant. In 48 Hours, which happens to be Murphy’s first movie, he plays a former bank robber, now in prison, who is released by the police for 48 hours to help catch his former partner who has escaped from prison. His partner is on a killing spree while searching for money that went missing after the pair’s last bank job. Murphy knows where it is but keeps the location to himself in order to maximize his freedom. This movie already has a sequel, Another 48 Hrs., but that was back in 1990 so this franchise is more than due for an update!
