Director and writer Lulu Wang garnered attention earlier this year with the release of her film The Farewell starring Awkwafina in a way we’ve never seen her before. The drama depicts a Chinese family struggling to come to terms with the death of their grandmother. The film was critically acclaimed and shows off Awkwafina’s range in a beautiful way. Wang is currently trying to adapt the Alexander Weinstein novel Children of the New World into a feature film, and with the attention surrounding her after the release of The Farewell, there will most likely be many projects open to her in the future.
