New Beasts, Aliens, and Droids, Oh My!
A trademark of any Star Wars property are the plethora of different species, animals, and robots inhabiting the Galaxy Far, Far Away. In “The Mandalorian”, we are introduced to a noteworthy member of each – firstly, the Blurrg, a piranha-like creature that lives in a desert climate and can be tamed to ride like a horse. Helping the Mando in his quest to ride a Blurrg and find his bounty is Kuill (voiced by Nick Nolte), an Upnaught from the planet Gentes. This race of beings were formally enslaved all around the Galaxy (much like Wookiees) so they show up all over the place, including on Cloud City in The Empire Strikes Back. And finally, we are introduced to our new favorite droid, IG-11, voiced by Taika Waititi, a bounty droid that (briefly) teams up with the Mando when they discover they are after the same target. His constant threats to engage his self-destruct mechanism at any sign of failure is a whole MOOD.
Oh, and I can’t forget to mention the freaking adorable infant Yoda creature (we don’t actually know what kind of species Yoda is because it’s so rare and Yoda is so old)… I WOULD DIE FOR BABY YODA, Y’ALL.
