2. Scary Movie

In what eventually culminated in a five-part series, the first of the Scary Movie films released in 2000, marking the start of a “scary” and funny movie sequence. Fitting the true definition of a parody, Scary Movie was full of random moments, comical imitations, pop culture references (which are probably a bit dated by now), and plenty of known celebrities such as Anna Faris, Marlon Wayans, Regina Hall, and Shawn Wayans!

Though many parody films are all over the place in terms of plot, this first installment shows Ghostface inflicting horror on a group of teens. This film is meant to mimic the 1996 film Scream, along with Scream 2, The Sixth Sense, among other popular horror flicks that came out around the same time.
