A representative for Zayn Malik has dismissed rumours the One Direction singer has married his fiancee Perrie Edwards in secret.

Fans of the boyband were sent into a frenzy this week (beg14Jul14) when the heartthrob posted a picture on his Instagram.com page which showed him wearing a ring on his wedding finger.

The snap sparked speculation the pair had shunned a high-profile wedding and married in secret, but a representative for Malik now insists the star is simply wearing an engagement ring.

The spokesperson says, "Perrie and Zayn are not married. The picture shows his engagement ring."
