Pop star Zayn Malik is giving fans an inside look at his life with a new collection of stories, photographs and illustrations documenting his rise to fame.
The former One Direction star inked a deal with publisher Penguin Random House, and he will be releasing a book simply titled Zayn on 1 November (16).
The book is not billed as an autobiography, but rather an "intimate and raw scrapbook of his life", mixing drawings, never-seen-before pictures, personal thoughts, and more.
Malik will open up about his childhood in England, coming into the public eye as a contestant on The X Factor UK, his rise to teen heartthrob as a member of One Direction, and his transition into a solo artist.
"I'm going to show you as much as I can so that you can judge me on my own terms, not on what the press or anyone else says," he writes in the first few pages.
The 23 year old parted ways with the boy band last year (15), just months before the rest of the One Direction stars - Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne and Niall Horan - began their indefinite hiatus as a group in December (15).
Since leaving the band, Malik has embarked on his own career with his first solo album Mind of Mine, which was released in March (16).
In addition to the new book, Malik is also working with Law & Order creator Dick Wolf on Boys, a TV series centred on a fictional boy band and the highs and lows that come with a meteoric rise in success, fame and public scrutiny.
The pop star is also serving as an executive producer on the series.
