Zayn Malik is ready to spend a reported $2.9 million on homes to move into with girlfriend Gigi Hadid.
The former One Direction singer, who quit the band before they went on hiatus, has been dating model Gigi, 21, since last year (15). They got together not long after the breakdown of 23-year-old Zayn's engagement to Little Mix star Perrie Edwards, but it seems the Pillow Talk singer is ready for another serious romance.
However Gigi's reality TV star mother Yolanda Foster apparently needs some persuading.
"Zayn is planning to splash out £2 million ($2.9 million) on homes in LA and London for him and Gigi," a source tells Closer magazine.
"He knows that Yolanda is a big part of Gigi's life, but when he heard she'd warned Gigi not to get engaged for at least a year it got his back up. He feels like she's interfering," added the source.
Between Zayn's keeness to get serious, and Gigi's mother urging her to slow things down, the model is feeling the strain.
"Gigi is torn. She's desperate to live with Zayn and show the world they're serious about each other, but she understands why her mum is worried that Zayn's rushing into things.
"It's putting a huge strain on their 'momager' relationship, with Yolanda complaining that she hardly sees Gigi anymore."
The lovebirds were the centre of attention at Monday night's (02May16) Met Gala, where Zayn fully embraced the Manus x Machina theme by wearing robotic armour on his arms.
Zayn and Gigi may have only been an item for six months, but it would appear the British singer wants to move their relationship to the next level sooner rather than later.
"Zayn wants to feel like he and Gigi are married and thinks living together proved that Gigi isn't just a rebound after Perrie. Yolanda is desperate for them to slow down, but Zayn is adamant that living together will finally cement their relationship," the insider added.
