Lindsay Lohan's ill-advised tweet about the gathering storm has come back to haunt her - a tree has wrecked her mother's home in Long Island, New York.
The Mean Girls star poked fun at people fretting about Hurricane Sandy before it was downgraded to a post-tropical cyclone, tweeting, "WHY is everyone in SUCH a panic about hurricane (i'm calling it Sally)..? Stop projecting negativity!"
But it seems there was plenty to worry about - 50 residents lost their lives in the storms and many areas of the east coast have been left without power as major flooding washes houses in coastal areas away.
And Lohan's mother Dina has revealed she's among the victims of Sandy - she tells TMZ.com a tree was uprooted on her property and ripped through her roof. It ended up hanging over the family pool.
Lindsay and brother Michael were stranded in Manhattan when the storm hit - but they are expected to be reunited with the rest of the family in Long Beach by the weekend.
