Tom Hiddleston has had enough of discussing his brief fling with Taylor Swift, insisting his private life has nothing to do with his work.
The British actor was thrust into the limelight last summer (16) when he embarked on a relationship with Taylor, not long after the Shake It Off hitmaker had split from Scottish DJ Calvin Harris.
Tom's romance with the singer didn't last and the romance fizzled out in early September (16).
The Thor star recently told GQ magazine he had nothing but good things to say about "amazing" and "generous" Taylor, insisting, "We had the best time," but he now wants to move on from the topic and leave the relationship firmly in his past.
Tom was asked about his GQ comments during an interview on breakfast show Today on Tuesday (07Mar17), while he was promoting his new movie Kong: Skull Island, and he sighed as he explained how being in the public eye for his work is very different from attracting the media's attention for his love life.
"You know, I make a clear distinction between my work, which I absolutely dedicate myself to, which is for the public...," he began. "I really believe in that relationship between an actor and the audience; you can't call yourself an actor without the public, and my private life is private."
His brief remarks on Today echoed the sentiment he had expressed in a separate chat with Britain's The Telegraph newspaper on Monday (06Mar17), when he was quizzed about whether he regretted "the publicity and gossip the romance engendered".
"What should I regret, in your mind?" said Tom, who is noted as responding "testily". "I would rather not talk about this, if that's alright."
He then added, "Everyone is entitled to a private life. I love what I do and I dedicate myself with absolute commitment to making great art and great entertainment, and in my mind I don't conflict the two. My work is in the public sphere and I have a private life. And those two things are separate."
