Tom Cruise is to reunite with his Jack Reacher director Christopher Mcquarrie for the next Mission: Impossible movie.

The Top Gun star will reprise his role as Ethan Hunt for the fifth movie in the Paramount Pictures franchise - the follow-up to 2011 blockbuster Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol.

Cruise says, "I am thrilled to reunite with Chris for the latest installment in the Mission series. I began producing the films with the goal that a different director with his own vision would make each one. Chris is an extraordinary filmmaker who will deliver the heart-pounding action and thrills that audiences around the world have come to expect from the Mission: Impossible franchise."

The blockbuster is slated for a 2015 release.
