Reality star and one-time Internet sensation Tila Tequila has been forced to raise money to pay her rent and buy furniture on a crowd-sourcing website.
Tequila, born Thien Thanh Thi Nguyen, has turned to fans for financial help after learning she was at risk of losing her home.
"The reason why I am creating this GoFundMe campaign is because they have raised the rent at my old home to $4,500 a month," she wrote, "and being a single mother without any support from the father, it can sometimes be very tough taking care of 2 people with only a 1 person income.
"So right now I need to raise some money so that I can move into my new home and get it furnished for my daughter and I. The last apt (apartment) I was at came fully furnished and that’s why it was so expensive, but I’d rather save money for my daughter than keep wasting money each month like that."
Tila told fans she needs to fund new furniture and bedding "from scratch" to start over, adding, "It is going to cost a lot to start off, and that is why I am asking you all for your help!"
Tequila, who is mother to toddler Isabella Monroe Nguyen, later thanked fans who had donated, and promised them that she would personally call every single person.
"I will give everyone who donated to our cause a personal phone call, as I promised, as soon as I return from filming in Las Vegas," she wrote.
The donations have helped her find a new apartment, which she hopes to move into at the beginning of February (16). As of 17 January, the donations have passed $3,000 .
Tequila picked up a $175,000 fee for her appearance on U.K. reality series Celebrity Big Brother last year (15), but she was booted off the program after producers discovered she'd previously made pro-Nazi statements.
Images that showed Tequila posing in front of concentration camp Auschwitz in 2013 with a gun, while wearing a Nazi armband and hat, led to her being removed from the show.
The controversial star also called Adolf Hitler "a brilliant artist". She later apologized for her comments.
