The Weeknd has pulled out of his support slot on Rihanna's Anti world tour.
The R&B star, real name Abel Tesfaye, was due to perform with the Work singer on the European leg of her tour, but has now forfeited his slot citing "changes with upcoming projects".
A statement issued by tour promoters Live Nation read, "Due to some unforeseen changes with upcoming projects, The Weeknd will no longer be joining Rihanna on her upcoming international 'Anti' World Tour."
Rihanna kicked off the delayed tour earlier this month (Mar16) with support by rapper Travi$ Scott. It had been due to begin in San Diego, California on 26 February (16) but the beginning of the tour was put back until 12 March (16) due to production delays.
The Weeknd's non-appearance is the latest setback for European Rihanna fans, as two concerts in the U.K. were canceled due to scheduling difficulties caused by the delay.
A replacement to fill The Weeknd's support slot had not been announced at the time of WENN going to press, although the rapper Big Sean is also billed as providing support at European venues.
The North American leg of Rihanna's Anti tour, continues on Wednesday (23Mar16) with a concert in Buffalo, New York.
