The Weeknd and his supermodel girlfriend Bella Hadid have reportedly ended their romance after almost two years together.
The couple began dating in early 2015, but sources claim their busy working lives kept them apart for too long and caused a rift between them.
"Their schedules have been too hard to co-ordinate and he is focusing on finishing and promoting his album," a source tells People magazine. "They still have a great deal of love for one another and will remain friends."
The Weeknd, real name Abel Tesfaye, is currently putting the finishing touches to his third studio album, Starboy, which is scheduled for release on 25 November (16), while his now-ex-girlfriend, Bella, recently landed a spot on the catwalk at the 2016 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show in Paris, alongside her sister Gigi. The big show tapes on 30 November (16) and will air on TV around the world in early December (16).
News of the alleged break-up may come as a shock to some fans, as Hadid, 20, and The Weeknd, 26, were spotted loving it up during a recent trip to Tokyo, Japan in October (16), and Bella also publicly gushed about how much she loved her guy just a few months ago.
"I'm proud of The Weeknd and the music he makes, but I really love Abel," she told America's Glamour magazine in August (16). "We're definitely a lot more similar than people think. We have the same voice, the same mannerisms. Sometimes we'll finish each other's sentences, or we'll be the only people laughing. We've always been close."
