Taylor Swift is back on top of the album charts but her Reputation fell well short of a predicted two-million sales week.
Some industry experts thought the pop star's new release could sell close to two million, but it debuts at number one with over 1.23 million equivalent album units sold, becoming her fifth Billboard 200 chart-topper.
The tally gives Swift the biggest sales week of 2017, and the 10th largest sales week for any album since Nielsen Music began electronically tracking sales in 1991, according to Billboard. Reputation is the singer's fourth album to sell over one million copies in a week, breaking a tie with Adele, who has three million-seller weeks.
Sam Smith’s The Thrill of It All slips to a distant number two in its second week with 66,000 albums sold, while Chris Brown’s Heartbreak on a Full Moon stays put at three.
Post Malone’s Stoney and Ed Sheeran’s Divide round out the top five.
