Las Vegas officials have declared Shia Labeouf's 'wedding' to girlfriend Mia Goth was not legally binding because the couple failed to obtain a marriage license.
The Transformers star and British actress Goth headed to Viva Las Vegas, a chapel famed for its themed ceremonies, on Monday (10Oct16) and exchanged vows and rings in a ceremony officiated by an Elvis Presley impersonator.
The couple even dressed the part for the casual nuptials, which were streamed live online, with Shia teaming a suit and tie with white sneakers for the occasion, while his bride wore a white sweater dress.
However, a representative for Clark County has revealed Shia and Mia did not apply for a license to wed, although there are documents to suggest the ceremony was just for the pair to pledge its commitment to one another.
"Our records show no marriage license for Shia LaBeouf & Mia Goth," the spokesperson writes on the Clark County Nevada Twitter page. "A commitment ceremony was performed #Vegas".
Representatives for the happy couple have yet to comment on the 'wedding' or the clarification issued by the Clark County official on Wednesday (12Oct16).
While Monday's ceremony was not legally binding, Shia and Mia have reportedly been engaged for some time after meeting and falling in love while shooting Nymphomaniac: Vol. II in 2012.
Rumors of a future wedding first swirled early last year (15), before they split that summer (15) following a nasty argument on a street in Germany.
They subsequently reunited, and in March (16), Shia, 30, reportedly told a grocery store cashier he was planning to wed Mia, who was also spotted wearing a large diamond on her left ring finger.
