Sam Smith is keen to become "a voice for gay youth" after launching plans for a charity aimed at helping young homosexuals 'come out' to their friends and family.
The Stay With Me hitmaker, who came out to fans last year (14), tells French magazine TETU he wants troubled youngsters to look to him for help.
He says, "I would like to become a voice for gay youth in difficulty around the world. I just created a foundation."
Smith has previously opened up about his experiences as a young gay man, revealing he was once the victim of violence due to his sexuality.
He said, "When I moved to London I got punched in the neck walking back from work... I was on the phone speaking quite loudly and had pink earphones on, so it was pretty clear I was gay."
