Sam Smith has revealed his weight loss secret - "just not eating like a pig anymore!"
The British singer lost an incredible amount of weight in 2015, and has been sharing pictures of his new look on his social media pages. As he attended the Grammy Awards on Monday night (15Feb16), Sam wowed fans with his slimmer than ever frame, and spoke to reporters about just how he has managed to shed the excess pounds.
"I'm just not eating like a pig anymore – that's what I'm doing, basically," he laughed to CBS when asked about the secret behind his slender physique.
Sam looked smart in a Thom Sweeney pinstriped suit complete with patterned tie and pocket square. His facial hair added an edgy twist to his look. While Sam is thrilled with his new appearance, he added that he will always have to be careful with his diet in order to maintain his lithe frame.
"It's very very difficult," he added to Entertainment Tonight on the Grammys red carpet. "I love food so much so it's a constant battle. It's always going to be a battle but I'm trying my best."
When Sam first dropped the weight, including losing 14lbs in just two weeks, he sought the help of nutritional therapist Amelia Freer and her book Eat. Nourish. Glow. In Amelia's guide, which became an instant best-seller following Sam's praise, she suggests sucking on herb-infused ice cubes to cut cravings and starting the day with a plate of broccoli.
There are always going to be calorific treats that prove too tempting to resist for Sam though. He admitted during an interview on Magic radio station last summer (15) that he can allow himself the odd indulgence as long as he doesn't go off the rails completely.
"Food is the big thing for me. I’m moving around all the time, but I just love food," he said. "I still love it. It’s going to be a battle for the rest of my life.
"I mean it’s not like this horrible diet that kills me. When I want to eat something bad I do it, but I’ve just got to stay on top of it, which is tough. I just love fried chicken and cheese!"
