Actress Priyanka Chopra was jumping for joy after landing a role in the new Baywatch movie, because she was a huge fan of the show as a child.
The Bollywood star will portray the villain in the upcoming film adaptation of the beach drama, which stars Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson and Zac Efron, among others.
Priyanka admits scoring a part in Baywatch was a dream come true, because everyone she knows loved the series when she was growing up.
"It was massive in India, people loved watching the show,” she explained on U.S. daytime show The View. “I guess it was a representation of the great American dream at that time…"
Baywatch was popular TV viewing for global audiences, but it was only when Priyanka relocated to the U.S. that she realized many Americans didn't think much of the program.
"Ever since I've been talking about Baywatch in America, people are like, 'Ugh, it's cheesy', or whatever, but around the world people love that show,” she explains. “I actually really liked it! I watch re-runs!"
