Paul Walker forced his Fast & Furious co-star Vin Diesel to abandon filming duties in order to be present for the birth of his son.
Diesel, who became a dad again to daughter Pauline earlier this month (Mar15), feared he wouldn't be able to make it for the delivery of his son Vincent in 2010 - because he was shooting Furious 5 with Walker in Puerto Rico as his longtime partner, model Paloma Jimenez, went into labor in New York.
In a new interview with Access Hollywood, Diesel revealed it was actually Walker who insisted he leave the set and put work on hold in order to get to the Big Apple and be by his girlfriend's side for their son's birth.
Asked what he would say to his son if her asks about Walker, Diesel replied, "I will tell him there is only one Paul Walker in the universe. I will tell him that it was Paul Walker who made me get up to the hospital in time to receive him.
"We were filming the ending scene in Fast 5 in Puerto Rico, and I remember telling him (Paul) her (Jimenez) water just broke. And he said, 'What? You gotta get outta here. It's not even a deal. We can film this later. You gotta go!'
"He basically pushed me off the set and got me up to New York just in time for my son (to be born)."
On Monday (23Mar15), Diesel revealed he had called his newborn baby girl Pauline in honor of his beloved friend.
Diesel recalled advice Walker once gave him on witnessing the miracle of birth in action, and said, "He told me, 'A lot of guys will tell you to stay out of that delivery room. And I'm gonna tell you you go in there and you be as present as you can and you cut the umbilical cord.'
"And that's exactly what I did. I felt like as I was cutting the umbilical cord, Pablo (Walker) was in the room with me."
