Nicki Minaj is making plans to dominate the world of acting now that she is 'fulfilled' as a music artist.
The Grammy-nominated artist is planning to push forward with her passion for acting. She studied the art at New York’s Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts.
Her new self-titled sitcom, Nicki, will focus on life for the superstar rapper as child growing up in with her parents and two brothers in South Jamaica, Queens.
The show stars 11-year-old Ariana Neal, handpicked by Nicki, with the singer suggesting the forthcoming ABC Family show based on her life will offer TV watchers a new experience.
“I’ve never seen a little girl rapping on scripted TV,” she tells NYLON magazine.
Nicki helped the young actress with her rapping “so that older people are gonna respect her", and has tweeted her pride about the cast.
In January (16) the Anaconda singer shared several snaps from the set on her Instagram account, including one with the caption: “I’m still working on their collective name. Wait until u see these girls in action. … I’m slightly obsessed with them. Handpicked ALL OF THEM!!!!! Very PROUD!!!!!!!!”.
The pilot for the show revolves around a pair of $50 Fila boots Nicki wanted as a child but her mother couldn’t afford.
Nicki explains she's in no rush to return to music just yet, but is pursuing her passion for acting.
"Where I left off with The Pinkprint (album) was a little bit emotionally unstable,” she said. “I wanted to take a moment to just live my life, enjoy my life, have fun, go out... It’s a spiritual experience for the people who are hearing the music, so I’m trying to be very careful of what mental space I’m in while I’m creating it."
“Musically, I feel very fulfilled,” she adds. “Now I can start tapping into my acting world, where it’s about passion and not about the money.”
