Nick Jonas found it hard to relive his break-up with Olivia Culpo while writing songs for his upcoming album.
The Jealous singer and beauty queen called time on their two-year relationship last year (15) when the pop star was working on his third solo album and the heartbreak completely changed the songs he wrote for the record.
Although it was tough for him to open up about the break-up, Nick tells his fans during a series of Twitter messages he had to "dig deep" and explore his feelings so he could be "an open book" on the album.
"I've been making this record for a year and a half... Pouring everything I have into it," he tweets. "When I first started making I thought I knew what it would be about... Then I had a breakup... It then became very clear what this thing would be about... And that I would need to dig really deep...
"S**t is too real sometimes... Reliving some of these real life experiences through this music is hard... But I know it's important that I do it. I want to be an open book in my art.."
He says each song is "so personal and meaningful to me" as he unveils the track listing, which features song titles including Don't Make Me Choose, Champagne Problems, Under You, Chainsaw and Bacon.
Nick will premiere his lead single this week (beg21Mar16) which is about "how I literally can't open up and be vulnerable with someone".
He also revealed his album will be called Last Year Was Complicated and thanked singer Tove Lo, rappers Big Sean and Ty Dolla $ign and retired basketball star Allen Iverson for being involved in the project.
The record is set for release on 10 June (16).
