Nathan Sykes' mother has refused to watch the sexy video for his new single Give It Up.
The 23-year-old singer strips off and has a passionate encounter with a female co-star in the footage - the steamiest video of Nathan's solo career to date.
While Nathan loves the finished product, he admits his mum Karen has point blank refused to watch it.
"My mum won't watch it - she completely refuses to watch it," Nathan said on British morning show Lorraine on Friday (20May16) as a clip of the video was aired. "Even that clip just then, that would have been the first clip she would have seen of the new video."
The video is a drastic change for Nathan, who was formerly most famous for being the baby-faced member of boyband The Wanted.
But keeping his fans on their toes is something Nathan wanted to do with his new track.
"I think, you know what, I like surprising people. I think with Over and Over Again it was very cute and romantic and very story driven. And with Give It Up it shows a more confident side to me, and a bit more flirtatious," he admitted.
Nathan was introduced to the music industry at the age of 10 when he wrote and performed a song for Junior Eurovision, before landing a spot in The Wanted. When the group announced their hiatus in 2014, Nathan embarked upon his solo career and has already enjoyed huge success with singles, including Kiss Me Quick.
Whatever happens with his career in the future though, Nathan is determined to keep singing for as long as he lives.
"No matter how old I am, whatever happens with my career, I will always want to be part of music and inspiring others to follow their dreams," he smiled. "Because I think the more that kids are encouraged to believe in themselves and believe in their dreams, I think it's a really good thing."
