Moroccan Prime Minister Abdelilah Benkirane has called for an investigation into the broadcast of Jennifer Lopez's provocative concert in the country last month (May15).
The Booty hitmaker caused controversy in the conservative nation when her raunchy performance at the Mawazine Festival in capital city Rabat was aired on a public TV channel.
Authorities expressed their outrage at the broadcast, and now the Head of Government Benkirane has urged the country's telecommunications regulator, the High Authority of Audiovisual Communication (HACA), to investigate the matter and "take legal measures against those responsible" for the broadcast.
He said the "disgraceful" scenes at the gig had "sexual overtones" and "were indecent and provocative to the religious and moral values of Moroccan society".
Lopez is also being sued by an education group over the performance.
