George Strait has snagged Miranda Lambert and Chris Stapleton for a country music benefit to aid the victims of Hurricane Harvey.
The singer promised to stage a major event to help his fellow Texans rebuild after last week's historic storm, and now he has announced details of a star-studded gig in San Antonio to coincide with the Hand in Hand: A Benefit for Hurricane Harvey Relief telethon on 12 September (17).
Lyle Lovett and Robert Earl Keen will also join the performers at Strait's Majestic Theater benefit, which will feature as part of the TV telethon, starring the likes of Rob Lowe, Barbra Streisand, George Clooney, Oprah Winfrey, Julia Roberts, and Texans Matthew McConaughey, Beyonce, Kelly Rowland, and Reese Witherspoon.
Select performances from the Majestic Theater show will be broadcast as part of Hand in Hand: A Benefit for Hurricane Harvey Relief, which was organized by Houston rapper Bun B and music mogul Scooter Braun.
Proceeds from the one-hour Hand in Hand telethon will benefit United Way of Greater Houston, Habitat for Humanity, Save the Children, Direct Relief, Feeding Texas, Rebuild Texas and The Mayor’s Fund for Hurricane Harvey Relief.
