Troubled country star Mindy Mccready has been moved into an outpatient treatment program after she was involuntarily committed for mental health issues on Wednesday (06Feb13).
A judge ordered the singer into a medical facility after concerned family members questioned her ability to care for her two sons, six-year-old Zander and nine-month-old Zayne, following the death of her boyfriend, David Wilson, last month (Jan13).
However, doctors released McCready and she returned home on Thursday (07Feb13) to undergo 21 days of outpatient treatment.
A source tells EOnline.com, "She was released because they think she is mentally stable enough, and she was tested for drugs and alcohol and everything came up fine. One of the reasons they released her is she didn't have any symptoms of what an alcoholic would have. There were no signs she had a problem to the doctor."
Another insider adds, "Being involuntarily committed and having her children taken away from her was eye-opening. It helped her realize she needs to focus on putting her family back together and moving forward from this tragedy. She is in a better state of mind."
Wilson was found dead at the couple's home in Arkansas. Initial reports suggested he committed suicide but police are still investigating the case.
He was the father of McCready's youngest child.
