Miley Cyrus poked fun at her 'twerking' dance moves, her clean-cut Hannah Montana alter ego and even the government as she hosted TV comedy show Saturday Night Live at the weekend (05Oct13).
The highly anticipated episode opened with a skit set in the post-apocalyptic future, where Cyrus' controversial 2013 MTV Video Music Awards performance is blamed for the downfall of America. The singer is visited by an older version of herself who travels back in time to warn her about the problems her raunchy routine will eventually cause for the country.
Cyrus later mocked her famous dance moves in her opening monologue, promising the audience there would be no 'twerking' throughout the evening.
She joked, "I used to think twerking was cool, but now that white people are doing it, I think it's kinda lame."
The pop star also vowed not to revive her Disney character Hannah Montana for SNL, insisting, "I can give you an update of what she's up to: she was murdered."
One of Cyrus' highlights was a parody of her own hit We Can't Stop, which was changed to We Did Stop in reference to the shutdown of the government this week (ends06Oct13).
Playing a sexy version of Republican politician Michele Bachman in a spoof music video, Cyrus sang, "This is our House. This is our rules. And we did stop."
Cyrus pulled double duty on SNL as she also provided the musical entertainment, singing Wrecking Ball and a stripped-down version of We Can't Stop.
