Madonna refused to shave her armpits at school - because she wanted to stand-out from all the other girls.

The pop superstar rebelled against her pretty friends when she first realized the extent they went to to attract boys and fit in - and she immediately ditched her make-up and changed her grooming regimen.

The Music hitmaker tells Harper's Bazaar magazine, "Going to high school, I saw how popular girls had to behave to get the boys. I knew I couldn’t fit into that. So I decided to do the opposite. I refused to wear make-up, to have a hairstyle. I refused to shave. I had hairy armpits."
