Rapper Macklemore was granted time with President Barack Obama at the White House on Thursday (12May16) for an upcoming film about drug abuse.
The reformed drug addict donned suit and tie for his trip to Washington, D.C., where he chatted to Obama about opioids for his new MTV documentary.
The Thrift Shop hitmaker, who checked in to rehab in 2008, was reminded of his constant battle to stay clean following a 2014 relapse. With his new film, he hopes to raise awareness about the opioid addiction epidemic that affects two million Americans.
The rapper spoke candidly to Obama about his own drug abuse issues.
The Macklemore & Ryan Lewis star has also met with youths impacted by addiction for the film, which will air later this year (16).
