Rapper Macklemore was ticketed for driving on a suspended license after he was involved in a car accident in his native Washington last week (ends28Jul17).
An alleged drunk driver slammed his pick-up truck into the front of the Thrift Shop star's Mercedes-Benz in Langley on 28 July (17) after crossing lanes into oncoming traffic as he turned into a bend in the road.
Macklemore, real name Ben Haggerty, and his two passengers were able to walk away from the incident, while the other driver, a 24-year-old man who wasn't wearing a seat belt, was left bleeding after smashing his head into the windshield. He was hospitalized with minor injuries, and was subsequently taken into custody on suspicion of driving under the influence of intoxicants.
Macklemore also found himself in a little legal trouble as police discovered his license had been suspended over a previous unpaid ticket. He was cited for the offense, but Washington State Patrol Trooper Heather Axtman reveals he has since paid the outstanding ticket and has had his driving license reinstated, according to Seattle news station KCPQ-TV.
The hip-hop star has yet to comment on the incident.
