Leslie Jones stunned in a red Christian Siriano gown at the Ghostbusters premiere after being criticized for slamming designers who refused to dress her.
The actress was embroiled in a row at the end of June (16) after complaining on Twitter that no designers would provide a gown for her to wear to the premiere of her new film Ghostbusters. And Hollywood stylist Jessica Paster blamed Leslie for not giving designers enough notice to cater to her shape, because she isn't sample sized.
However, Project Runway star Christian Siriano stepped in to provide the star with a custom made, red, off-the-shoulder number for the Los Angeles event on Saturday (09Jul16) which garnered the actress plenty of compliments.
“You can look good. Don’t let nobody tell you you can't look good because of your size... or what size your feet is,” a triumphant Leslie encouraged during an Entertainment Tonight interview. “You can look good. Someone can dress you. It takes a real designer to design for a real woman.”
The 48-year-old comic actress' co-stars gushed over her sleek appearance. Kate McKinnon, who also appears opposite Leslie on Saturday Night Live, was in awe of her friend's bravery to speak out - and the gorgeous end result.
“Leslie Jones, she's changed my life and I think she's changed the lives of everyone who's ever laid eyes on her,” she gushed. “She's so stunning, I can’t even take it.”
Kristen Wiig dazzled in a pink Jenny Packham dress with sequin detailing, and called Leslie's premiere dress "amazing", while co-star Melissa McCarthy - who rocked a vintage yellow prom dress - joked: "Don't mess with Leslie Jones. She's untouchable!”
The film's director Paul Feig was overwhelmed by Leslie's outfit and the support she received in demanding recognition from the fashion industry.
He likened her red carpet moment to the heavens opening up and "dropping" her out, adding: “I’m so appreciative of people dressing Leslie. She’s beautiful, a real gorgeous woman, and you see how spectacular she looks.”
