Lena Dunham worries about Kim Kardashian "every day" after the reality star was the victim of an armed robbery.
Kim was bound, gagged and held at gunpoint by a gang of five masked men at her accommodation in Paris, France, in the early hours of Monday morning (03Oct16), before the robbers made off with nearly $11 million of jewelry.
Countless stars have voiced their support for the reality star in the wake of the terrifying ordeal, with the latest being Girls creator Lena. While the actress doesn't personally know Kim, she said during an interview on Power 105.1’s The Breakfast Club on Wednesday (05Oct16) that the crime has struck a chord with her.
"I literally am thinking about her every day like she’s my friend even though I don’t know her. I’m like, ‘Is she feeling okay? Is she talking to somebody? I’m worried,” Lena said.
"What I really hate about this Kim thing is that people are feeling so much license to make jokes. That’s a human being and she may have put her life on display in a specific way and you may not agree with everything that she does, but that is a woman, and a mother and a daughter who’s just been put through something so heinous. My heart is with Kim."
Kim, 35, has been holed up in her apartment in New York since arriving back home after the robbery. She had been in Paris for Fashion Week, where model Gigi Hadid also fell victim to a scary incident earlier in the week when she was picked up by an overzealous fan outside a show.
“I have this feminist letter Lenny newsletter and we just interviewed Gigi Hadid about her getting picked up outside the fashion show in Paris. Luckily, she’s an amateur boxer," Lena continued. "She was able to elbow the guy in the face and get away. But that person felt because she was a public figure that he had the right to pick her up. He probably thought, ‘This is a model, she puts her body on display, so why aren’t I supposed to touch it?’"
Police in Paris are hunting for the men involved in Kim's robbery, and are said to have got a lead thanks to a CCTV image of the reflection of the gang as they walked through a shopping mall adjacent to the reality star's hotel.
The New York Post's gossip column Page Six also report that Kim has a powerful ally in terms of the investigation surrounding the robbery - in the form of French President Francois Hollande.
According to the outlet, Hollande "is personally involved in the investigation” and has also vowed to provide "additional security on (Kim's) behalf next time she is in France."
