Kristen Stewart has joked she has "no idea" what unrequited love is like.
The 26-year-old Twilight star has been in relationships with men and women within the past few years, and is rumoured to have recently split from her girlfriend, French singer Stephanie Sokolinski, also known as Soko.
She is currently at the Cannes Film Festival promoting two of her latest movies, Personal Shopper and Woody Allen's Cafe Society. The latter sees Kristen star as a secretary in the 1930s who is torn between two suitors, played by Jesse Eisenberg and Steve Carell.
When she was interviewed for British television show Lorraine, Kristen was asked if she can relate to the concept of unrequited love.
"Oh yeah, of course," she said. "That's truly the most grotesque, gutting, horrible feeling in the entire world. Hypothetically speaking of course - I have no idea what that's like!"
Kristen was also probed on what it feels like to play a character that is likeable, after so many years playing the anti-heroine, to which the actress replied: "Weird!"
Speculation of Kristen and Soko's split first surfaced last week (ends08May16), when Kristen attended the Met Gala in New York City solo. She was later spotted hanging out with model pal Stella Maxwell, who was briefly linked to Miley Cyrus, at the official afterparty.
Ironically, Soko and her now-ex have previously dated the same man - the French star once enjoyed a blind date with Robert Pattinson, who romanced Kristen on and off while they were filming the Twilight movies. They split in 2013, months after the Hollywood actress' infamous fling with her Snow White and the Huntsman director Rupert Sanders in the summer of 2012 became public.
Robert is now engaged to British singer FKA twigs.
