Kate Winslet is apprehensive about the upcoming 3D version of Titanic because she feels "very disconnected" from her life when she filmed the movie in the 1990s.
The British actress was aged just 22 when she found global fame starring as Rose DeWitt Bukater opposite Leonardo DiCaprio in James Cameron's 1997 epic, which has been rebooted for a 2012 release to mark the 100th anniversary of the luxury liner's fatal maiden voyage.
DiCaprio gushed about the remake after a recent screening but Winslet, now 36 and a mom of two, has not yet seen the film - and she admits her time making the movie seems "like a distant memory".
She tells website Stylelist.com, "At the end of the day, it's weird. It's really weird because it's 15 years ago and I don't know, I feel very disconnected now from actually what was going on in my life at the time and how I felt.
"A lot of it, it does really feel like a distant memory, so it's going to be quite strange to have that sort of thrusted into people's face all over again."
However, Winslet is excited about the prospect of gaining a new legion of fans, adding, "I've no idea what it'll be like, the experience, but it's exciting to think that a whole new generation of young men and women who, perhaps, haven't seen it, who may have been conceived after the first date night of a couple going to see Titanic.
"It does mean that a whole new generation of people will be seeing the film and that's fantastic. That's wonderful. And also, I'm fascinated to see it in 3D myself, I still haven't seen any of it. I know a couple of people who have and they're like, 'God, it looks amazing'."
