Jennifer Lawrence has broken her silence about the furor surrounding her latest movie collaboration with director David O. Russell, insisting news of a set bust-up between them is nothing but "a terrible rumor".
A representative for the studio behind the new film, Joy, dismissed talk of trouble on set early on Friday (27Feb15), following reports suggesting the actress had fallen out with her director, who also worked on her movies Silver Linings Playbook and American Hustle.
The reports suggested the pair became involved in a loud altercation while filming on Tuesday (24Feb15), but a representative for Fox 2000 insisted the argument was simply a method acting trick to prepare Lawrence for an emotional scene in the biopic.
And now Lawrence is speaking out in defense of O. Russell in a post on her Facebook.com page.
She writes, "I know I don't go on here a lot because I can barely work email, but there's been a terrible rumor going around the last 24 hours so I wanted to clear it up.
"David O. Russell is one of my closest friends and we have an amazing collaborative working relationship. I adore this man and he does not deserve this tabloid malarkey. This movie is going great and I'm having a blast making it!"
