Janet Jackson marked the 14th anniversary of pal Aaliyah's death on Tuesday (25Aug15) by posting a social media tribute to the tragic singer.
Fans and friends flooded Twitter.com with notes and thoughts about the late star, who lost her life in a 2001 plane crash, aged 22, and Jackson wanted to make sure her followers knew Aaliyah was on her mind.
Posting a photo of a handwritten note which read: "What I shared with u ever sacred, everlasting, it's pure and it will endure. I love u Aaliyah. #RIP", the Rhythm Nation hitmaker added the caption, "I know u r there shining down on me."
Aaliyah and Janet were making plans to work together at the time of the R&B star's death.
Jackson paid tribute to the singer/actress at a concert after her death in 2001, dedicating the song Come Back to Me to Aaliyah, and she also took part in a tribute to the 22 year old at the 2001 MTV Video Music Awards."
