James Mcavoy is keen to spend more time in his hometown of Glasgow, Scotland to ensure his son grows up with an accent like his own.
The 34-year-old actor married his former Shameless co-star Anne-Marie Duff in 2006 and the couple live in a north London apartment with their three-year-old son, Brendan.
McAvoy returned to Glasgow for six weeks while filming his new movie Filth and realised how much he missed the city.
He tells Britain's Daily Record newspaper, "I'd been away from Glasgow for a long time. To be honest, while I was away whenever I'd return for a visit, I felt that the Glasgow I knew had moved on and didn't really feel like the city I grew up in.
"What was brilliant was that I got to spend six weeks living in Glasgow while making the film and I then realised that wasn't true."
The Atonement star admits he would love to move back to Glasgow, but has to stay in London due to work commitments, but he wants to spend more time in the Scottish city for the sake of his young son.
He adds, "For the first time in 10 years I thought that I really want to live here again. I can't do that because my work's all down south and I'd spend all my time travelling, so I have found myself coming up the road a lot more - and trying to get my son a Scottish accent."
