Model Ireland Baldwin has come to her old school friend Kendall Jenner's defense, insisting Kim Kardashian's half-sister deserves the 'supermodel' tag.
Alec Baldwin and Kim Basinger's daughter was asked for her thoughts about the social media feud between Kendall and another pal Gigi Hadid and old school stunner Stephanie Seymour during an appearance on talk show The Talk on Monday (20Jun16) and she jumped at the chance to get involved in the controversy.
Last week (ends17Jun16), Seymour sparked the style slanging match after taking aim at the younger fashion stars during a chat with Vanity Fair. Insisting supermodels are "a thing of the past", the 47-year-old said Gigi and Kendall deserved their own title, which she laughed should be "B**ches of the moment".
Kendall, 20, spoke out over the sentiment, revealing 21-year-old Gigi had told her about the story.
She fired back, "If you choose to be a cyberbully, I'm going to stick up for myself. No one is trying to steal Stephanie Seymour's thing, or trying to be her. I guarantee you that she didn't imagine someone so publicly shaming her daughter when she made those comments about us being 'b**ches of the moment'."
Stephanie has since backtracked in a lengthy Instagram post, stating: "I don't usually address rumors, but since feelings have been hurt I would like to set the story straight. At an event last week I was jokingly asked if the 'era of supermodels' was over, what should we call the new great 'it' girls?? There were no names mentioned, and NO ill intent involved. A supermodel is a supermodel. I respect and admire all these women in my industry, in particular Gigi Hadid and Kendall Jenner."
And now Baldwin is making her feelings clear, stating, "It's not really fair to compare the two different eras (of supermodels). That was an older era of supermodels who are still now beautiful and working and doing their thing... It's different."
She then insisted her friends Kendall and Gigi "are supermodels", adding, "I've grown up with Kendall... They're both, honestly, really nice, beautiful people... There's no denying they're drop dead gorgeous."
