Rapper Iggy Azalea was caught off guard after her former mentor T.I. alleged they are no longer in business together during a recent radio interview.
The Fancy hitmaker signed to T.I.'s Grand Hustle Records label in 2012 and he has been a key supporter in her rise to fame.
However, he suggested he had recently cut all ties to Azalea after tiring of having to intervene and play peacekeeper in a number of her social media feuds with fellow rappers Q-Tip, Azealia Banks and Snoop Dogg.
In a candid chat with New York City radio station Hot 97 on Wednesday (16Sep15), he said, "I'm a loyal partner. If I rock with you, I'm gon' (going to) rock with you... Right, wrong, we're gonna discuss that in the car.
"Right now, Imma (I'm gonna) block the bullets... When I say, 'Go?' Go! Don't stand around and tote while I'm blocking bullets. You slowing me down, you know what I'm saying (sic)?"
T.I. placed the bulk of the blame on Azalea's management team, alleging they were not ready to handle the amount of backlash the Australian rapper received.
His comments left Azalea stunned, because she insists they are still working together.
Taking to Twitter.com on Thursday (17Sep15), she writes, "Heres (sic) the deal, I am still signed to @tip and do business with him. The first ive (sic) heard of us having an 'issue' is via a radio interview.
"Personally, i dont think the radio is the place to talk about your personal issues with someone thats part of your team... He seems to think theres nothing wrong with what he said, everybody else seems to disagree (sic)."
She adds, "Im sure tip will publicly clarify what he meant when he feels he has the right platform to do so and other than that, im chillin (sic)."
