Glee star Idina Menzel and her actor husband Taye Diggs have founded a performing arts camp for children in Massachusetts.
The couple started Camp BroaderWay for underprivileged young girls in the Berkshires last year (11) to give aspiring stars the chance to hone their song and dance skills, while also enjoying the great outdoors.
Campers take vocal lessons with Menzel, choreography classes with Diggs, and poetry courses with famed composer Jeanine Tesori, and the 41-year-old stage beauty admits it has been a rewarding experience teaching others her secret to success.
Menzel tells Vogue magazine, "One of the most powerful moments was one morning when we were sitting in a big circle, talking about words that represent what camp meant for them, and one of the girls - who had a terrible bout of stage fright - said, 'Empathy.'
"That struck me because that's what the arts are about, understanding people's experiences."
