Ian Somerhalder has revealed he and wife Nikki Reed are working on expanding their family.
The 37-year-old The Vampire Diaries actor married the 27-year-old Twilight actress last year (15) and they are hoping to be welcoming some children into their household soon.
When asked by Entertainment Tonight reporters if they are trying for a baby, Ian replied with "absolutely".
"Well, you know, those are the coolest little things in the world," he smiled. "Standby."
Ian and Nikki already have their hands full, as they are parents to two horses, three cats and four dogs.
Fortunately their animal friends receive endless entertainment from their performer parents.
"There's a lot of singing (in our home)," Ian shared. "Well, (Nikki) is also a very talented musician and her voice is hauntingly beautiful, so she's got me by a long shot."
Ian stunned fans with his directorial debut of an episode in season six of his television show The Vampire Diaries and he is happy to announce he'll be giving directing another go in season seven, which is currently airing.
"I just finished directing my episode from last week, and now starts the whole journey of post-production," Ian said of episode 716, due to broadcast sometime in the spring. "I'm excited. I get the editor's cut in just a few days, on Saturday, and then I'll start the process of just really molding and crafting it."
Rumors are starting to float around suggesting The Vampire Diaries may be canceled soon, but Ian is in the dark as to whether the show is headed towards its conclusion.
"It's something that everyone is talking about and there is a lot of speculation about it because we're so far into it," he said. "I'll be honest with you, right now we're just trying to get through this one and just make this a really, really good season of television."
