Asa Butterfield, the child star of Martin Scorsese's Hugo and sci-fi movie Ender's Game, is reportedly in negotiations to play the big screen's latest Spider-Man.
The young Brit will take on the role of Peter Parker's web-slinging alter-ego in next year's (16) Captain America: Civil War, according to Latino-Review.com and multiple movie news websites, if he lands the role.
Reports suggest the new Spider-Man will then appear in his own movie, scheduled for the summer of 2017.
Marvel bosses behind the Captain America and Spider-Man films have yet to confirm the latest casting news. Andrew Garfield was the last actor to don the Spidey suit in The Amazing Spider-Man and last year's (14) The Amazing Spider-Man 2.
Insiders claim Butterfield, 18, tested for the role of Spider-Man last week (ends08May15).
