Emma Watson has praised the "wonderful" adult stage version of her Harry Potter character Hermione after attending the play on Wednesday night (06Jul16).
J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is still in previews at London's West End, but Emma, who played brainiac Hermione Granger for 10 years on the big screen, was able to take in the show on Wednesday.
And Emma had nothing but good things to say about the play and its cast, taking to Facebook on Thursday (07Jul16) to share her rave review.
"Yesterday I went to see the Cursed Child," she wrote. "I came in with no idea what to expect and it was AMAZING. Some things about the play were, I think, possibly even more beautiful than the films. Having seen it I felt more connected to Hermione and the stories than I have since Deathly Hallows came out, which was such a gift."
Emma also sang the praises of Noma Dumezweni, the actress who plays Hermione in the play set 19 years after the events in Rowling's books.
"Meeting Noma and seeing her on stage was like meeting my older self and have her tell me everything was going to be alright, which as you can imagine was immensely comforting (and emotional)!," Emma gushed. "The cast and crew welcomed me like I was family and Noma was everything I could ever hope she would be. She's wonderful. The music is beautiful... I could go on."
Emma also shared photos of her meeting the cast backstage, including several shots of Noma embracing the young actress, with one snap showing the elder Hermione cupping Emma's face in her hands.
Noma also reciprocated the love back to Emma, tweeting, "It really was quite emotional to be in your company... And Thank you 4 your lovely self. We spoke of you with MAJOR respect. Blessings Dear @EmWatson and Thank You!"
After Harry Potter and the Cursed Child's preview shows, the two part play officially opens on 30 July (16), with its initial run at the Palace Theater concluding on 27 May next year (17).
