Actress Emma Stone surprised the high school student whose prom invitation she had to turn down by sending him a special gift to wear for the big bash.
Jacob Staudenmaier and his friends in Emma's native Scottsdale, Arizona famously filmed a La La Land-inspired video urging the Oscar winner to consider accompanying him to his high school dance.
In the viral clip, the hopeful teen, dressed in a tuxedo and bow-tie, begged Emma to be his date to prom in his reworked Another Day of Sun song-and-dance number - the sequence that opened the hit film.
The actress was thoroughly impressed with Jacob's 'promposal', but she had to decline the invitation last month (Apr17), as she would be working overseas on the day of the event.
Jacob ended up attending the party with fellow student Caitlin Teefy last week (ends30Apr17), but Emma made sure they had a little flowery flair to add to their outfits by having a corsage and boutonniere delivered hours before the bash, according to the Daily Mail.
"Jacob, a little something for you and your lucky date tomorrow," the 28-year-old wrote in an accompanying handwritten note. "Have a great time! Much love, Emma Stone."
The actress had previously sent Jacob a sweet message to let him down gently, and he read out the letter during an appearance on breakfast show Good Morning America in early April (17).
"Jacob, thanks for making the greatest proposal I have ever received," stated the reply. "I can't tell you what an honor that was and how much I smiled through that entire beautifully orchestrated video. I'm in London working, but I hope you have the best time at prom, and I'm grateful you thought of me. Thank you."
Emma then gave the youngster a big confidence boost, after he sang about his resemblance to her La La Land co-star Ryan Gosling in his video invite.
"P.S. I do see Gosling around the eyes," she added. "Love, Emma."
The star is currently in the British capital filming The Favorite, a historical biopic set during the reign of Queen Anne.
