Ellie Goulding is putting music on hold after confirming she has split from Dougie Poynter for the second time.
Ellie and the McFly rocker ended their on-off two year relationship last month (Feb16) and she admits to struggling to deal with the public fall out from her breakup.
"When you're in the public eye, it seems like you're able to deal with stuff better than anyone else, which is not remotely true," she tells Britain's The Sun newspaper. "I'm not in a relationship any more and that's been hard."
The Love Me Like You Do singer wants to take a break to revamp her personal life when her Delirium world tour ends in October (16).
"I'm not writing new stuff," she says. "I'm not sure when I'll release a new album. It might not even be next year. I need time off for my own head."
The 29-year-old star, who as well as dating Dougie has been linked to a number of musicians including electronica DJ and producer Skrillex and singer/songwriter Ed Sheeran, hopes a break from music will enable her to meet people from different backgrounds.
"I don't really have that much of a social life because of what I do," she says. "You tend to meet people just in this world. It seems like I've had relationships with people who are in the public eye but I don't see it that way.
"I'd like to travel and meet people, not just in the music industry, and expand. I like the idea of not really knowing what's going to happen. If people forget about me, they do. I'll just come back at some point."
Ellie's U.K dates of Delirium began on an emotional note in Cardiff, Wales on Tuesday (08Mar16), as the star's estranged father watched her perform live in concert for the first time.
She plays the Echo Arena in Liverpool, England, on Thursday (10Mar16) before embarking on the rest of her British dates. Ellie kicks off the North American leg of her tour in April (16).
