Singer/songwriter Ed Sheeran made a tragic fan's dream come true on Sunday (30Mar14) when he sang to her over the phone minutes before she lost her battle with cystic fibrosis.
The Brit called Triona Priestley after responding to a Twitter.com campaign created by her friends, and serenaded her with the teen's favourite tune, Little Bird.
It was one of the last exchanges the brave Irish girl experienced, because she passed away shortly after the phone call.
Priestley's pal Lucy Hanlon, who Sheeran's aides called to help set up the mini-phone gig, took to Facebook to thank the singer for taking the time, writing, "Ed rang Triona and personally sang Little Bird to her as she took her last breaths. Triona left us listening to her idol surrounded by all the people who loved her."
Sheeran later took to Twitter to pay his respects to the 15 year old.
He wrote, "Rest in peace Triona, so heartbreaking."
